Skiing

Aspen offers some of the best options in the entire Rocky Mountains for winter snow sports. Whether you like to ski or snowboard, you can find anything to fit your fancy when on the mountain. If you never have, there is nothing like hitting the slopes all day long, only to come back to your lodge and sit in front of a beautiful fire while you wait to go get dinner to cap the night off. Due to the Rocky Mountain’s dry climate, the snow is so powdery and fine, that there are few places in the world that can are better for skiing and snowboarding. The slopes of Deer Valley, Telluride, and Vail are among the best.

Ski Lifts

For those just jetting in for a few days, there might not be enough time to take a day-long hike up a mountain. Luckily, there is still a way to see the amazing views from mountaintops in the Rockies. Many ski resorts offer year-round gondola or ski lift rides to the mountain peaks. So no matter what time of year it is, one can take a quick ride from many popular resorts such as Snowbird, Vail, or Beaver Creek.

Hot Springs

There is no better way to sit back and relax than in the Rocky Mountain’s natural hot springs. The most popular spot to do this is the Lava Hot Springs in Idaho, where one can soothe aching muscles and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Wildlife

The Rockies are full of amazing wildlife that just can’t be seen anywhere else. Often times, all one needs to do is take a short walk through Rocky Mountain National Park to view remarkable animals such as bears, moose, elk, and beavers.

Festivals

The Rockies are also home to many great festivals. For example, there is a popular Food & Wine Festival that takes place each June in Aspen. During the summer, there are also numerous open air concerts, such as those at the Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Food

Aspen offers some amazing food options that you will have a hard time finding anywhere else. Ever tried Rocky Mountain oysters? Now’s your chance. What about some delicious Mexican food? Head over to Su Casa to get your burrito or enchilada fix.

Aspen Music Festival

If you come to Aspen during the summer months, be prepared to take part in one of the most well-known and entertaining music festivals in all of the world. You can expect to see a variety of different music options, ranging from bluegrass to large orchestras, all playing in this mountain town. Add a few beers from one of the dozens of Colorado’s microbreweries and you’ll have an unforgettable time.
