Outdoors

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most magnificent and attractive structures in California and all of the US. Best seen during the twilight hours, with the sun setting above, the Golden Gate Bridge shines beautifully over the San Francisco Bay waters. The incredible view can be taken in from a number of vantage points, including biking alongside the adjacent Golden Gate Park mountains, driving by car, from Rob Hill, Hawk Hill, or simply going across the actual bridge.

The Golden Gate Park is 1000 acres of land, with impressive bike trails, snake paths, picnic areas, trees and more. The Conservatory of Flowers can be found in the Park, and offers a glimpse into some incredible plants and flowers, with various flowers blooming throughout the year.

Climb to the top of Strawberry Hill and you can find an incredible view of both the Golden Gate bridge and surrounding nature. Families can enjoy an afternoon at the Steinhart Acqaurium, while the Japanese Tea Garden offers a serene getaway.

For those seeking a quirky but rather interesting and historical area, definitely take a walk down – or up – Nob Hill. A neighborhood that was formed in 1844 and is considered one of the original “Seven Hills”. Nob Hill is known for its extremely steep hills, drawing tourists who don’t believe it until they see it, and walk it as well.

History

The Ferry Building was built in 1898 and stands tall over Market Street and the docks area. Although significantly damaged after the Earthquake, it was renovated and reopened in 2003, and now serves as San Francisco’s beacon of great food. Head over to the Ferry Building to get a wide variety of restaurants and stands that sell some great local cuisine, as well as international treats.
